ThesCon Reflection

As the first day post-TCon comes to a close, thought I may as well hit up the blog-isphere.

ThesCon stands for the State Thespian Conference of Colorado. This year I was one of over 4,000 something high school students to participate. You are given opportunities to perform and audition, take workshops with professionals in the biz, and mingle with other thespians, who honestly once you become a thespian those are the only people you can ever really mingle with ever again.

I had a very productive few days and made amazing progress with my choice one college's theatre program. I'm confident of acceptance now and a an exciting new future at the U of Northern Colorado. I will major in Theatre Education. I... Honestly am so blessed for ThesCon.

The Foreigner is a brilliant and amazing show. I want to be in it.

In all seriousness, I loved being there. The mingling, the fun times with my troupe 4492, and just getting away for a while. But school is tomorrow, and that's not so much fun.

Also, maybe hopefully, the four girls in workshop 8, "Acting: The Active Process" who go to Rock Canyon, please, if you see this, hi, I'm sorry I couldn't find you guys after the workshop and give you my name, you're all beautiful and awesome and I kinda hate myself for not introducing myself more.

So, basically, ThesCon will and always rock. As my last year as a participant, I made the most of it. I never would have met Tom McNally, or been considered for admission to the AADA or NYCDA. For future thespians who may read this, choose your workshops carefully. My advice? Improv isn't necessarily worth taking, and don't take the by the book IE or scholarship audition first classes, take like, Allison Watrous' Audition Bootcamp. You get a lot more out of it.

I love you, ThesCon. Miss you already.

Vlog ideas

So today, my little sister (she's a genius and she's my beautiful joy of the world. Seriously all I do I do for her.) showed me the YouTube Goddess "DailyGrace". Now, she may be just ADHD gone soooooooo right, which makes me jealous, because my ADHD is like that evil ADHD which is the bad side effects, but hers make her famous, so it works. I was thinking of doing vlogs, even though I'd be recording them from my iPad webcam, I thought it would be interesting. Also, recently, my opinions on Harry Potter things (shipping mostly) have had a reaction of people laughing, and thus making me think, "Hey now, maybe I could actually like... Do something cool with my lack of a life spent writing fan fiction, poetry, songs and rehearsing lines." And if I did my vlog, only wholockerheads (my breed of whovian + sherlockian + potterhead) would really understand my feels, and in all seriousness, that's a large amount of quality people on this not so quality planet. Especially Potterheads.

So, whata you think? To vlog or not to vlog, that is the question.

Update on Current Writing Projects

Project 1: Harry Potter Fan fiction is currently story boarded and I have began drafting. The plot is a romance between Luna Lovegood and Harry Potter - esque characters. My friends in my writing circle keep chastising me that it is too much of a teen version of the Harry Potter rewrite of 50 Shades of Grey, but no. It just happens to be a romance. With some elements that make it probably on the banned list at most schools. :) it's a project.

Project 2: My book of poetry, "Misty Mountain Dwellings" is currently in peer edits. Publishing as a teenager has become increasingly difficult, not sure how I'll move forward, but its really come together.

Project 3: my second play, "The Turn-Out", is currently changing themes and my co-writer and I are really researching farce, we want to make this like an Oscar Wilde kind of comedy but its increasingly difficult with a modern audience.

Project 4: myself and the wonderful Shaylan Davis will be story boarding and writing our Harry Potter Fan Fiction over winter break. I'm very excited to collaborate with her, and cannot wait to see what we create.

UPDATES ON WRITING:

I am re-opening my lyrics business, "Word2Page". I shut down the project from lack of business, but more and more recently more people have been coming to me asking for help, and I need to make a profit :). Hey there, I'm Jon. I'm a quirky, awkward, nerdy high school bookworm. I'm a senior in high school, Class of 2013, and I am basically what you'd call a creativity complex. I write, I sing, I act, I attempt to dance, I enjoy and make films, I read EVERYTHING, and I am a photographer. Harry Potter, William Shakespeare, Legend of Zelda, Lord of the Rings, Sherlock, Dr. Who, Batman, Marvel Comics, and books are my HUGE fandoms, especially Harry Potter and Legend of Zelda. I always try and find things to read, and always try to find something to keep myself busy. I am one of the most devoted Harry Potter fans you will ever meet, you'll probably find me on Omegle arguing that Luna and Harry totally should have ended up together or you can find me whittling handcrafted and personalised wands. My biggest passions are writing and acting, they fully encompass my time. I've written lyrics, a book of poetry, a two-act play, a novella, multiple fan fictions (Harry Potter of course), and even some journalistic writing. My favourite actors are Gary Oldman, Martin Freeman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Hugh Jackman, and David Tennant, just to make the list short (because trust me, it isn't), and my favourite actors range from Shakespeare to Rowling to Marlowe to King to Vonnegut to Patterson to Rand, Steinbeck, Brown, Huxley, Poe, Wilde, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Wells, Thoreau, Hemingway... Again there are a lot. I am not of an organised religion, I like looking at multiple different ones and seeing the truth in all of them, but technically I'm a deist. I hope to go to the University of Northern Colorado and earn my major in Theatre Arts Secondary Education with a minor in English, and hope to someday act and write professionally before teaching high school literature, drama, Shakespeare, film, and writing. I've never had many close friends and a lot of my best friends are freshmen in college now, so my best friends are books and my time is spent watching movies, reading books, drinking tea, and exploring life, so I thought, why not blog? So, enjoy this blog from eyes that are usually hidden behind the pages of a book. I will be posting news on projects, opinions, and a lot of farce or sarcasm :) stay quirky, my friends.

If we are all condemned to everlasting redemption, why not be condemned together?
